Should you be reporting an outbreak or a positive influenza case on Evenings, weekends or holidays, call 3-1-1 and ask to speak with the Public Health Inspector on-call.
 
For facility representative to complete upon notification of increased absenteeism due to illness above the Child Care setting baseline. If your Child Care setting does not have an absenteeism baseline determined, please complete and submit the form.

Infection Prevention and Control Measures

Management of symptomatic individuals

  • Individuals who have COVID-19 symptoms or a positive COVID-19 test must self-isolate immediately until symptoms have been improving for 24 hours and no fever present. 
  • Individuals who have enteric/gastrointestinal symptoms including vomiting and/or diarrhea, should be excluded until symptoms have been resolved for at least 48 hours.
  • For a total of 10 days after the last exposure to the COVID-19 positive case or individual with COVID-19 symptoms, the individual should:
    • Self-monitor for symptoms. They should self-isolate immediately if they develop any symptoms of COVID-19 and seek testing if eligible.
    • Wear a well fitted mask in public settings including child care, unless under 2-year-old.

Hand hygiene

  • Alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) with a minimum alcohol concentration of 70% is available at all entrances, near high-touch areas, in shared spaces and stored out of reach of children.
  • Soap, paper towels and no-touch garbage bins are provided in classrooms or areas where a sink is available.

Cleaning and disinfecting

  • Maintain sufficient stock of cleaning and disinfection supplies. Ensure that staff are properly trained in the selection and use of appropriate cleaners and disinfectants (including disinfectant contact time).
  • Cleaning products should have a Drug Identification Number (DIN). Check expiry dates on products prior to use. Properly label and store cleaning and disinfection supplies.
  • If preparing solutions, follow manufactures instructions for mixing and use.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces at least twice daily and as needed using an enhanced cleaner/disinfectant (e.g., doorknobs, water fountain knobs, light switches, toilet and faucet handles). Clean and disinfect diaper changing stations immediately after each use.
